TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki held separate meetings with foreign ministers of Oman, Myanmar, Nicaragua, and Belarus on the sidelines of the 15th Non-Aligned Movement(NAM) meeting in Tehran.

In these meetings, the foreign ministers emphasized the need to strengthen mutual ties and expand relations in various fields.
The NAM meeting opened on Sunday and is scheduled to last for four days.
Oman: Iran plays constructive role in solving regional disputes
Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah described Iran’s role as constructive in settling regional disputes.
“Iran’s role in regional and international developments is significant,” bin Alawi told Mottaki.
Mottaki expressed hope that the NAM members would succeed to adopt a unified approach to promote the body’s international status.
“The active presence of the foreign ministers in the Tehran meeting will accentuate its importance,” he said.
Myanmar FM calls for expanded ties
Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Nyan Win criticized the approach by some superpowers towards his country and called for expanded ties with Iran in various fields specially agriculture.
He also thanked Iran for its humanitarian aids to Myanmar citizens as a devastating storm hit the country in May.
Nicaraguan president to visit Iran
Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez announced on Monday that the president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, will travel to Iran. He stated the president’s meeting will boost bilateral cooperation.
Mottaki, for his part, emphasized Iran’s readiness to expand ties and cooperate with the Latin American state in energy field.
